In 1998, Marcus and Dale Pruitt Pruitt started Dendrix Defense Products in a rented machine shop in Cypress Flats. Their first product was a hand-built energy device that Dale assembled at night and Marcus sold out of a pickup to sheriff's offices across Blaine County.
The company introduced its first body camera in 2009 and moved its footage to the cloud in 2013. In 2019 it became Dendrix Public Safety Systems, Inc., reflecting an evolution from devices to the record they create.
Today Dendrix makes body cameras, energy devices, drones and the software that holds what they capture, from a campus in Burton and three data centers in the Grand Senora Desert.
