The challenge
Residents reported a rise in unfamiliar vehicles, delivery drivers and people walking on streets without sidewalks. The district’s eleven officers were answering more calls than ever, most of them from the same fourteen addresses.
The approach
VHSD connected its patrol to Hivemind and launched Neighbor Share, which sends doorbell and gate camera clips straight to the patrol queue. Residents can flag a vehicle or a person from the Neighbor Share app, and an officer reviews every flag.§
The result
Flags now reach a patrol unit in four minutes on average. Reports of unfamiliar pedestrians rose 340% in the first quarter, which the district board described as strong engagement. Two delivery services now route around the district entirely.
